Our Visit To Ghana and Ireland
So, in the last 6 weeks we have had some major changes in our life! We closed on our new home at the end of June! We were due to close earlier in May but there was some delay because the sale had to be granted through a judge. The home was being sold by a set of relatives who were left the home by their grandmother.
While we waited for the closing, we took a two- week trip to Europe and Ghana! Harlley is from Ghana and has family who lives there. He also has a cuzzo who lives in Ireland, Nana Asante, so we visited his family as well! It was our kids’ first time meeting one another and they really had a lot of fun. Micah has been asking to visit with them ever since!
Ghana is a beautiful place with beautiful people. I think for our oldest, who is 5, the trip helped him put a face to the many stories he has heard and also gave him roots- the love of his culture and people. Pilar won’t remember this particular trip but at least she enjoyed herself lol. There was time spent with grandparents, visiting the beach and swimming pools, all around-exploring the city of Accra .
Where are your people from? Or where are some of your favorite places to visit? Let’s discuss it below!
My husband is from Gambia, which is in West Africa as well. We plan to go there by the end of 2020. I’ve heard so many stories, that I’m super excited to go. Plus, as you said, it will give our kids, especially our oldest a since of understanding where half of his family is from.
that sounds exciting! You will enjoy it so much! Please come back to tell us all about it!
